President's Letter
Greetings
from the Missouri-Arkansas District of Kiwanis International,
The Earl Collins
Kiwanis Foundation was established to assist the youth of our two-state
district. We currently give college scholarships to twenty-three
high school seniors and financial support to our two largest sponsored
youth programs.
The scholarships
are available to any high school senior who submits an application
to a Kiwanis club in their area by December 31. They are graded
and one winner is selected in each of our 23 divisions throughout
Missouri and Arkansas. Winners are selected on the basis of
academic excellence with evidence of achievement in such areas as
community service, church activities and class offices held.
We are currently able to award scholarships in the amount of $750.
The sponsored
youth programs are Key Clubs in local high schools and Circle K
Clubs in College. We assist these clubs financially through
financially and support their efforts in community service.
Our foundation
is supported through contributions from local Kiwanis clubs and
fund raisers that are conducted throughout the year. We recommend
that each club contribute $2.00 per member per year. We will also
accept funds from any person or corporation that wants to help further
the goals of our foundation. We are a 501(c)(3) organization
so we can verify that contributions are tax deductible.
The foundation
is named to perpetuate the memory of Dr. Earl A. Collins, a former
educator, Past Governor, and Secretary of our Kiwanis District.
Thanks for
your interest,
Les Mace,
President
